PICTURES: ¡Celebración! Book Festival at Maple Hill

On June 12 we hosted Schodack Central School District’s first ever ¡Celebración! Book Festival, featuring in-person visits from multiple acclaimed Latinx authors of children’s and young adult books (scroll down to see the list of visiting authors). All the visiting authors write stories capable of resonating with students and adults from all backgrounds, offering windows into different experiences and perspectives – we were so lucky to have all of them visit our school community! The evening started with mixing & mingling with the visiting authors and having books signed. After that, everyone moved into the auditorium for an “in conversation with…” series of interviews and interactive presentations with the authors.

Thank you to all the Schodack students, families, staff and community members who attended the inaugural ¡Celebración! Book Festival! Thank you so much to all the authors/illustrators for visiting our district and a special thank you to Castleton Elementary Librarian Stacey Rattner, for coordinating not only this incredible day-long event (authors also spent the school day with students) bu all of the many other author visit events she coordinated this year (and every year)!
