It is with a heavy heart that Schodack CSD informs our community that long-time Board of Education member Paul Puccio passed away on Feb. 26 surrounded by his loving family. No one was prouder of Schodack CSD than Mr. Puccio, a tireless advocate for his alma mater who gave endless energy and time to the school district he loved, including 38 consecutive years on the Board of Education.

“Paul’s tremendous contributions to the Schodack Central School District and the Schodack community will be felt for generations to come,” said Board President Chris Olsen. “The Board will surely miss the knowledge and insight that he takes with him, as well as his smile, laugh and above all his friendship. Paul’s passion for education was well defined by his tireless effort and by his vision of how limitless education should be. He fundamentally had just one objective, to give the youth of our community the very best education, and educational experience possible.”

“Paul’s service to our district and his commitment to improving education for all students will be greatly missed,” said Superintendent Jason Chevrier. “Mr. Puccio had a unique ability to think differently about ways to solve problems and encouraged those around him to consistently think about how to make our schools better. The Schodack Central School District would not be what it is today without Paul’s authentic leadership, constant support, and thoughtful guidance. His passing is a true loss for our schools and the greater Schodack community.”

Mr. Puccio’s passion for education also extended to Questar III BOCES where he served as a Board of Education member and Tech Valley High School where he was the first president of its Operating Board. He also served his community for years on the Town of Schodack Planning Board.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family in this difficult time.
